What is Porcini Meat Sauce?
Porcini meat sauce is a rich sauce for pasta in Italian cuisine. It has tomatoes, ground beef and/or pork, and dried porcini mushrooms. It has a rich, umami taste with the savory garlic and sweet and acid notes of the tomato.

Crushed tomatoes are usually a cooked and canned item, though may come in a jar. They are small chunks of red tomato, packed in their own juice. Crushed tomatoes have a high liquid content, with small solid pieces of soft tomato. The flavor is sweet and tart with an umami quality. Crushed tomatoes are often used in sauces, soups and stews.
Ground beef can be made from any cut of beef, though commonly the chuck steak and round steak are used. Chuck steak has a good meat to fat ratio, creating a savory and succulent burger or meatball. Ground beef is a reddish color and formed into thick "strands" from the meat grinder. When cooked the meat takes on a grey/brown color, though the inside of a burger will often remain pink.
